Coming work at the Waste pond

The footpath down from the Waste green to Elizabeth Close (the Steps) has been flooding since December, due to water flowing back out of a drain gully at the corner of Waste Lane, down the path and the steps.

Cheshire West Highways have been looking for the source of the problem, both in the highways drainage system, and the pond's outflows.

They have now confirmed that "The issue of the surcharging drains is related to an issue with the pond's outfall.There is a blockage which is causing the pond to surcharge through the highway drain".

They are planning to pump the pond in the next few weeks, to reduce its volume below its outfall, making it possible to clear any blockages in the combined system. This should resolve the Highway issue.
