Traffic speed data July and August 2025

During July and August SID has been located at the western end of Chester Road a short distance up from the 30mph restriction sign as you come off the bypass from the direction of Chester. It recorded the speeds of traffic going towards the village. About 1100 vehicles a day pass this spot. 53% were travelling at 30mph or less, which is good, but about 250 vehicles a day were exceeding the speed limit but were going at less than 35mph, the speed below which prosecutions are not possible. About 45 vehicles a day were exceeding 35mph and could and should be prosecuted. The maximum speed recorded was 59 mph at 2 o’clock in the afternoon.
