Between 19th March and 10th May 2025, SID was positioned about half way up Chester Road, near the bus stop, monitoring the speed of traffic heading out of the village up the hill where the speed limit is 30mph.
The average number of vehicles per day was about 1,100. Only 27% of vehicles were doing 30mph or less. 27% of vehicles were doing more than 35mph which is the speed above which enforcement action can be taken. That amounts to about 300 drivers a day that could and should be prosecuted.
About 70 drivers per day on average were exceeding 40mph, and 3 per day exceeding 50. The highest speed recorded was 86mph.
We shall be passing this data to the Police and ask them to set up their enforcement camera on this stretch.
