Our PCSO James Hannath and other Cheshire Police Rural officers recently held a number of Wellbeing and Safety Events, in Kelsall, Delamere and Tarvin.
This was set up in response to the Police's Residents Voice Survey, if you have concerns for your village then this is an easy way to show demand and ask for more support:
Here the update our PCSO sent (pictures from the event in Delamere):
In Kelsall, we set up the Safety Bus on the Community Centre car park, this in partnership with Age Concern to offer advice on all things crime prevention but Age Concern specifically offered invaluable value to cold calling and staying safe online from scams.
We organised Police Community Support Officers to complete foot patrol to generate community engagement, raise concerns and be a visible presence.
Due to the complaints about speeding, we deployed a Police Motorbike on Chester Road to tackle this and any other road related offences, we are pleased to say that all drivers were driving safely during the time we were there.
PCSOs also delivered safety talks within Kelsall Primary school.
Licensing Officers also visited locations to ensure that local pubs were adhering to conditions and also to ensure support and training.
Unfortunately, most residents were unaware of the Police initiative so there was little audience but those who did speak with us thought it was a very useful idea.
In Tarvin, we set up a workshop within the community centre which was kindly funded by Ted Lush. This was a similar set up to the Safety Bus, but we were able to offer workshops with the space and were pleased to have residents visit us. Again, Age Concern joined us in partnership.
Two PCSOs went out on foot patrol mainly in the woodlands where engagement was welcomed by lots of dog walkers, we also completed a search to bring awareness to the national knife crime operation Sceptre. Many informed us that they were aware of the initiative via Tarvin Online advertising it.
Two PCSOs attended Tarvin Primary which proved very popular and we have been asked to come back and deliver more input.
Two Police Officers were deployed to Church Street in the 40MPH area where a number of speeders were stopped and dealt with, the fastest was 47MPH.
Licensing visits took place around the area too.
in Delamere, we placed a speed indicator device on Station Road with a Police Car, as we have had speeding raised as a concern many times, this was very impactful and drivers clearly became aware of our presence.
Within the Delamere Forest we set up the Safety Bus again to deliver advice, this was met with positivity and became busy with the sun out.
PCSOs attended Delamere School to deliver safety talks.
We brought the THINK car with us, to raise awareness of speeding.
Two Police Officers deployed on Police Motorbikes to tackle any illegal bikes, an ongoing issue across the county causing anti social behaviour.
As part of wellbeing and engagement we took the dog, Poppy, who proved very popular with all, particularly a school who were visiting the forest that day!
In all villages we asked Parking Services to focus on hotspots of complaints we have received. (schools and shops).
Kelsall's community site is powered by you.
