Our local Kelsall and District Probus men’s club organises monthly lunches, talks, walks and visits to interesting places. The aim of our club is to provide regular opportunities for members, retired or nearly retired, to meet others in similar circumstances, make new friends, maintain and expand their interests, and provide companionship and mutual support. We have about 50 current members with a broad range of career backgrounds and life experiences.

We meet monthly for lunch, providing an ideal opportunity for conversation and making friends. The lunch is followed by a talk. Recent talk examples include the History of Vale Royal Abbey, Coal Mining Memories, Photography, the NW Air Ambulance, the History of the RNLI, the Making of Liverpool, the Restoration of the Danny ship-canal steam tug, the Construction of the QE2, Artificial Intelligence, the Battle of the Atlantic. Our present monthly lunch venue is Willington Hall.

We have two walking groups, both meeting monthly and helping to keep us active! Our longer walks are about 6-7 miles in length over moderate terrain. Our shorter "strollers" walks are about 3 miles in length. Walks for both groups are local and provide a wonderful opportunity for chatting, getting to know each other and usually end with a pub lunch. Details of past walks and group photos are shown on our website.

We also have occasional visits to interesting locations, usually two per year. Example visits include the Hack Green nuclear bunker near Nantwich, the Bentley Car Factory in Crewe (not that any of us could afford to buy one!), Jodrell Bank, the Kingspan insulation factory at Hollywell, the Morgan car factory in Malvern and guided walking tours of Chester and Liverpool.
