Backgrounds and aims of Kelsall Pre-School and Klub
History
Kelsall Pre-School, formally Harewood Playgroup, started life in a garden shed back in November 1973. In 1985 Harewood Playgroup moved to our current location and leased the land from Cheshire County Council. After a successful lottery bid, our old building was demolished in 1998 and our new purpose built pre-school was erected.
About the Pre-School
We are a committee run registered charity, open to children between the ages of 2½ and 5 years old and are registered to care for up to 26 children per session.
During the summer term, children who are due to move on to 'big' school will enjoy visits to and from the reception class teachers to help your child gain confidence for a smooth transition from pre-school to school.
Although we have close links with Kelsall primary School, parents are free to choose which school their child(ren) will attend when the time comes. The pre-school has regular link meetings with the Kelsall early years teachers, sharing resources and inviting teachers into pre-school to meet and get to know the older children.
We are members of the Pre-School Learning Alliance (P.L.A.) and are registered with OFSTED. All inspection reports are available for you to look at online or in the pre-school office. In 2004 the Pre-School successfully achieved accreditation with the PLA proving our standards are of the highest level.
Parents
Parents are regarded as members of our setting who have full participatory rights. As a community based, voluntary managed setting, we also depend on the good will of parents and their involvement to keep going. If you feel that you could spare some of your time to ensure the continued success of the Pre-School & Klub, please don't wait until the AGM - make yourself known to the existing committee or the Pre School staff. Your help will be welcome and much appreciated! The Annual General Meeting is open to the parents of all of the children who attend the setting. It is our shared forum for looking back over the previous year's activities and shaping the coming year's plan.
Committee Members
Although the AGM is held in September, if you would like to help on the committee, then please approach either the committee directly, or a member of staff. The committee consists of various roles including Treasurer, Chairperson, Vice Chair, Secretary, Fundraising, and Health and Safety, to mention but a few. The minutes from the Commitee meetings are on display in the Pre-School foyer.
