Meditation - Universal Healing Zone
Meditation and relaxation can help greatly in reducing stress and anxiety, helping you feel more relaxed, peaceful and focused. This has a knock-on effect helping your health, well-being and life. It helps you to come into balance and allows your mind and body to relax. Meditation is a natural state in which you learn to quieten your mind and become still. Sandy Stanley runs a meditation class every Tuesday during term time between 11am and 1pm at Kelsall Community Centre. £6 per session. All are welcome, beginners or advanced. More information can be found on UHZ's website.

Pilates Classes
For muscle tone and flexibility why not try Pilates? Classes are held at Kelsall Community Centre, Kelsall Primary School, Ashton Village Hall, Duddon Village Hall and Utkinton Village Hall. Pilates teacher Fiona Enticott moved away from Kelsall in July 2010, but will be replaced by three other teachers in September:
- (NHS GP referral trained, ptpilates.webs.com). Mondays at 9:30am and 10:30am at Kelsall Community Centre.
- (Pilates teacher for 7 years, BSc in Sports Science and PE, 07746-968028). Tuesdays at 7:15pm and 8:15pm at Kelsall Primary School.
- Vicky Robinson (chartered physiotherapist, trained in Pilates, 01829-751661). Mondays at 7:15pm and 8:15pm, Tuesdays at 2:00pm, Thursdays at 9:30am.
There's a lot of information about Pilates on the National Website.
STOP PRESS
Due to unforseen circumstances, Monday Mornings Pilates classes (teacher Dave Jones) will commence on September 20, not September 6 as planned.
Scottish Dancing Group
Scottish Dancing tuition and social dancing takes place for two hours on a
Wednesday evening from 8pm in the Community Centre, from September to May, under the excellent
local tutelage of Sue Duckett of Kelsall. There is no age limit so long as you are willing to
have a good time and have abundant enthusiasm. You don't have to bring a partner. There is no
strict dress code, but light shoes are a distinct advantage. The object is to enjoy yourself,
to keep fit and keep healthy, and to share in the invigorating rhythms of the music.
So if you feel you want to know more, contact either Lin Sensicle (01829-752647) or Rosie
Humphreys (01829-752784) for more information, or come along on for a taster.
St Philips Walking Group
St Philips Walking Group started way back in 1998 when a few people, led by George Wilson, the then parish lay reader, decided to introduce social walks, about once a month in the summer only. This has been maintained and expanded ever since, and in October 2005 the group celebrated its 50th walk. The group has visited many different places, both near Kelsall and further afield, including Snowdonia and Derbyshire. The average number on each walk has now grown into double figures. The pre-Christmas walk is particularly popular. The walks range from easy to moderate, nothing significantly strenuous for a reasonably fit person, and very healthy too! The group hasn't lost anyone yet! Anyone is welcome - please contact Alan Sensicle on 01829-752647 if you are interested.
