Tarvin Educational Foundation

The Tarvin Educational Foundation is a charity set up to manage the endowment of the old Tarvin Grammar School. The purpose of the Charity is to assist the educational needs of students of secondary school age and older who live in the ancient Parish of Tarvin. These are the villages of Ashton, Clotton Hoofield, Duddon, Kelsall, Tarvin and a few other small parishes. The Governors are representatives of the Parish Councils of Ashton, Clotton, Kelsall and Tarvin, together with a member of Cheshire West and Chester Council and up to three co-opted members.

The awards may take the form of financial assistance for tuition fees, maintenance, books, musical instruments or travel on approved courses. The Governors are happy to consider any application made on behalf of students residing in the qualifying area and a letter to the clerk indicating the subject or project being undertaken and some details of the funding required is the usual first step. Applications can be sent in writing to the Clerk to the Foundation (Mr D.H. Cotgreave, Brown Heath Farm, Tarporley Road, Tarvin CH3 8NE   Tel 01829-740231).

The Kelsall representative is Noel Dutton, the chairman of Kelsall Parish Council (tel:  01829-751449), and the CWaC representative is Hugo Deynem.
