I have lived and worked in Kelsall and Ashton Hayes for the majority of my 44 years. I am married to Deb with three children. Currently I am working for E.ON Energy, having been self employed for some 16 years.
I was first elected to represent Kelsall on the old Chester City Council in 1993 and have been pleased to serve Kelsall and Ashton Hayes as a councillor ever since.
On the newly created Cheshire West & Chester Borough Council I sit on the Environment Policy Development Board, the Strategic Planning Committee and am a Chair on the Appeals Committee. I am Member Champion for Climate Change for the authority chairing the Climate Change Task Group. I am a member of the Boundary Review Committee preparing the authority's proposals for the Boundary Commission to consider. I am also a member and chair of a number of outside bodies.

Personal attributes
I have managed and owned a number of small businesses in the Environmental and Recycling sectors over the last 25 years, and the skills that I have developed over this period enable me to make a very positive contribution for our rural area in council meetings, and at meetings with residents.
I care about the issues that affect the lives of residents within my Ward and City. I am tenacious and do not give up easily. I will leave no stone unturned in getting an answer to an issue or problem.
Aspirations for Kelsall and Ashton
I have lived in rural communities for much of my life, and I have always argued to ensure that the rural voice is heard and not overlooked. All too often, City and Urban area criteria dominate policy making, and Brian, Hugo and myself will be working in conjunction with the Parish Councils to ensure that Kelsall and Ashton have a voice on the new Cheshire West and Chester Authority. The new Gowy division covers 7,500 ha. and has a population approaching 14,000, but this is relatively small in the context of Cheshire West and Chester Authority, when the combined Chester, Vale Royal and Ellesmere Port districts are added together. I will be working hard to ensure that Chester remains the centre and 'Capital' of the new authority, and that we retain our Civic team of Lord Mayor and Sheriff.
The prime objective of CWaC is to be community driven, by engaging with the community for the community, and by working with local and strategic partners. I totally endorse this aspiration, and I look forward to meeting residents and groups over the coming months.
